“FISH ON!” This was a common phrase through all of last week and into the weekend. The fishing is on fire in Matagorda right now and it looks like it’s only getting hotter. Caught fish in East and West Matagorda Bay as well as having a decent day offshore. Grass beds and deep guts have been the ticket in West and deep shell is holding the fish in East with the low tides we had. If you want to get in on some of this catching, you better get a hold of me fast! (979) 240-5312 run-n-gunadventures@hotmail.com
Wednesday, I had Randy and his wife on Primetime to do a little drifting. We hit reefs to box 13 solid fish by noon and call it a day.
Thursday was our Kubecka fish day and we had a north wind blowing. Under normal circumstances I would be flying to East smiling all the way. But on this day we were scouting and had our minds made up on West. The north winds made it a little difficult to fish the way we wanted, but we still had 20 trout and 3 reds by noon. The rest of the boats fished east and caught some good fish but never found the numbers. The young ones had a blast and even had a few caught there very first trout over 25 inches all by themselves, GREAT DAY!
Friday and Saturday Run-N-Gun hosted the DR Horton group from Austin with 19 guys. Friday afternoon the bay boats ran east after solid fish with west bay in the plans for Sat morning. It was slower that afternoon because of the moon phase and the morning bite had been on fire. Still the boats all caught fish with everyone having at least one over or around 25inches. The offshore guys had a rough afternoon…. The water was flat as glass and the bite was just off! It was definitely a humbling trip that afternoon. Saturday was totally different. We ran 11 guys to west bay and absolutely hammered them! Had 82 trout by 11:30am and headed in. Started the morning in deep guts and then moved to the grass beds mid-morning. Offshore the water was a little rougher, but Michael managed to limit out in solid snapper and boated 3 wahoo. They lost 4-6 other wahoo at the boat or never got them turned. The two day total for the group was 99 trout, 4 reds, 10 snapper and 3 wahoo, not a bad couple of days.
Sunday, I had Todd, William, Elizabeth, Carl, Shane and the Fisher Queen Susan. We headed back to west bay in search of the same schools we had left biting the day before. We found fish everywhere we were, but just never got into a steady bite like the previous day, started in deep guts, hit the grass beds mid-morning and then back to the deep gut around noon. Ended the day with 29 trout and 2 sharks to cap off an amazing weekend with great people.
Like I said, we are catching fish and booking fast! Whether you need just one boat or up to five for a corporate outing, just let me know and we can handle anything you need. Don’t let the summer slip by just reading about everyone else catching fish with us wishing it was you. Make the phone call or shoot me an email and lets start discussing your trip.
